If I say, “Basketball is, within the slow developing sports”, most of you will accept that this is true.
To improve it, I first removed all “null and void” practice mentality and drills”.
As our aim is to create better players with sound fundamentals, why are we hanging around wasting time in practice?
We must get into the 21st century. As such, our training system must be:
1 – Easy to learn
2 – Easy to teach
3 – Must obey energy/output ratio
4 – Must obey time/output ratio.
Here below is the revolutionary “Modular System Drill” which develops all skills for the improvement of the fundamentals. It is progressive and creates results and “Good Habits” with fundamentals much faster. Footwork, Dribbling, Passing and Shooting.
The trainer or coach has the advantage to choose to work on speed for one player and work on for style for the other without changing or modifying the drill.
Please use your imagination, a team on the floor with 4 assistant and 16 players guards, forwards, and centers. All of them has a ball. To warm up everyone is working at his spot on the court. An assistant is helping a forward to receive the pass, the other forward is working on receiving and driving. A guard is working on to how to use the “Big Step” technique after changing hands, between the legs. A forward tries to perfect his between the legs and dribble jump shot. An assistant reminds him to push the ball with a 55 degree angle.
You will soon understand why our players make huge progress and improvement within a much shorter time than most. We reach an Unconscious Competence period much earlier than all other methods.
We can do the same while teaching the shot off the dribble Jump Shot, for example. The “new player #1” will use, one dribble and stop Jump shot. The player # 2 will use two dribble and stop Jump Shot and the player # 3 will use one dribble-stop-change hands-two dribble stop jump shot.
As you see, with the same drill, on the same time with the same trainer, all levels of players can practice. Plus, you can create much more to get out the best result from your assistant coaches.
For example, Coach A is profound for teaching dribbling, Coach B is an expert in shooting and Coach C is loves to teach passing. The head coach can create much a more efficient “station system”. I am sure that once you see this, you will all agree with the idea that “Modular System Drill” is the best in all of the world.
Now, its time to talk about the “Modular Basketball” style or system of play. The mentality is the same.
The solution lies in the definition of what is the best basketball. A strong team wins using big players. You are surprised when they lose. On other hand, there are week teams that astonish everybody when they beat stronger teams.
What is the difference between two teams? The first team wins with its’ players superiority, mostly. The second team is winning with a blend of beautiful, coherent team play.
I will explain a little now but I will go into full details at the Camp in Bolu this July.
Basketball is wonderful game. Every time down the court you have the opportunity to score. If our oppnent scores 80 points per game shooting 100 shots by 40% shooting then we can beat them, shooting 41%.
We can defeat them ,shooting 30%! But we have 7 three pointers. We scored 81. We can also beat them, because our press created 10 steals. They shot 90 shots. We can show you over 50 different possibilities. All examples related to the players. I’ve presented this as a newspaper statistician.
But, and this is important, we can teach something different to our team to be successful.
To reduce Turnovers for example. By using correct spacing we can avoid all double teams. To shoot from special areas on the floor and then to send one extra players for the offensive rebound. And, if I say that, we will eliminate their chance of offensive transition too.
Don’t think that I am out of my head, or feeble minded.
Contrary, these are some pages of 21st century basketball. You will see how is that possible…You will Learn how to teach it…
After the camp, minimum 80% of you, will use the “Modular Basketball System” because it is easy to learn and very easy to teach. It is completely logical and fully tested during my 50 plus year active coaching career.
As you can see, it is all innovative. You will be the first group to see this methodology.
Lastly, send 3-4 players with 2-3 coaches to our Camp to obtain the best results from the Modular Basketball training system.
I hope to see you soon at the World’s Best Basketball Camp-Bolu, 2010.

A – Driblingte üç component vardır.

Did you know that the United States government shells out millions of dollars a year for college grants and scholarships? And did you know that from a portion of those millions is the opportunity for a select few of the greatest high school basketball players in the world to play college ball while attending school for free?
That’s right. A full ride scholarship will completely cover an athlete’s tuition, room and board, campus meals, and other minor expenses. If you were to go to a prestigious college like Stanford or Georgetown on your own wallet, the student would likely have to fork over $25,000-$35,000 a year. Multiply that by four and you’re looking at $100,000 to $140,000 for an education – a very pricey education at that.
Once you crunch a secondary education into numbers, the once-and-a-lifetime opportunity is especially daunting. That is why many cherish, if not relish the opportunity to play an athletic sport at the next level.
International coaches like Cavit Altunay, a legend in the country of Turkey, understands that for some, playing college ball is not only a dream BUT also a necessity toward a higher education. That is why Coach Altunay has dedicated the last few years to this cause.
“How much is a college scholarship worth to you?” Todd Kozinka, owner of Planet Hoops Basketball casually asks. Kozinka has combined his basketball wisdom with Altunay, and together the two are prepared to bring the “Modular Basketball Approach” to the masses.
What exactly is the “Modular Basketball Approach?”
The method was created by Coach Altunay and is the central concept, or key, to developing, refining, expanding, and mastering the offensive game of basketball. Cavit Altunay, through years of experience, has witnessed the game transform from a defensive, physical match to a very open, offensively minded game where the highly skilled dominate.
The Modular Basketball Approach is the foundation, a brainchild, which Coach Altunay promises will completely revolutionize your game. This summer Kozinka will host The World’s Best Basketball Camp under the guidance of not only Altunay, but other established coaches from the region.
The camp promises to do exactly what it declares in the title – build the world’s best basketball players – a bold, but promising statement nonetheless. It is here, in wonderful Bolu, Turkey, that players will learn the fine intrigues of the offensive game.
What sets the camp apart from the majority of the other standard basketball camps is the attention to the specifics. While most camps never reach beyond the general fundamentals of basketball, the WBBC stretches for the deepest truths and most hidden tips.
…And the price of the camp, plus the promises it’s sure to deliver is pennies ($1,250 per camper) as compared to the hundreds of thousands you could shell out for a college education otherwise.
College basketball coaches seek highly talented, highly skilled, and highly athletic basketball players. While defensive is incredibly valuable, it never hurts to be the one who puts the ball in the bucket more than any other individual in the city, state, or country.
The World’s Best Basketball Camp is designed and executed by coaches who understand what it takes to get to the next level. Consistent shooting, rock solid ball handling, timely passing, and the effortless movement of a successful offense are all taught at WBBC. Rest assured, attending the World’s Best Basketball Camp will be one of the greatest investments you could make for your son, daughter, or own self.
Trust us; it’s good to be selfish once and awhile.
Do not hesitate. The World’s Best Basketball Camp is less than 50 days away (July 18-28 or August 1-11) and spots are filling up fast. Open up your web browser and proceed to: http://worldsbestbasketballcamp.com/

In order to achieve success at the highest levels of basketball, one must develop a sound philosophy generated from applied knowledge & clarity of vision. It must recognize the absolute significance of the game’s offensive & defensive transitions. This philosophy is the launch point from which Modular basketball liberates the present state of the game.
An historical perspective demonstrates that the physical evolution of basketball players translated into an offensive transition focus. The challenge for opposing teams then was to find a solution for the offensive transition. Pressing the guard with outstanding handling skills was not enough because the long pass to breaking forwards rendered the fouled forward breaker & the subsequent foul shot.
The weak link in this style of basketball has become the mental set. There is a passivity to it that undermines the game. Change the mental set and now you’re talking about the evolution of sport.
What does Modular Basketball suggest?
Look at the driving problems. Take the game apart & restructure your frame of reference.
What do we really want to do?
Ultimately, we want to minimize long passes feeding lay ups that are difficult to forecast and obstruct without a requisite foul
Stop the 3 point shots originating primarily from assists from super driving guards
Take command of the offensive rebounding
Players and coaches who understand the game appreciate that 3 or 4 players driving back on defense is not enough to thwart an organized transition attack. Those who know, appreciate that an innovative approach is imperative to success and the Modular system, as developed by Cavit Altunay, exists as a proven and insightful counter to conventional basketball thinking.
Modular Basketball as the Driving Origin for Innovation
Because the Modular system is a time & energy saving instructional approach, with an emphasis on athletic improvement and technique, your team can be ready for league play in just two months.
You can
keep your opponents below 50 points by owning the offensive boards
outperform on the court with a focus on footwork & lateral quickness
improve 3 point shot accuracy to 60%+
dominate by transforming every one of your players into skilled one on one offensive artists
take another look at two on two & three on three techniques
Let’s take a quick look at how the Big Step, Longitudinal Switching & available 2-1-1-1 zone press can drastically alter your game:
Try to imagine the Big Step:
Initially, the ball carrier approaches with the right hand dribbling
Carrier challenges defense with a two count stop, the swing foot closest to the defense.
The ball is kept before the right knee, well away from the defense, invulnerable to attack.
As offense stops, so does the defense. Now, we take a big step with a front turn to the basket.
The Pivot foot is our left foot to pass the defense
If the defensive player comes to front the dribble, the carrier can either switch dribbling to the left hand with a ‘between the leg’ maneuver and the path is clear to the basket or, turn the ball to the weak side for an open shot or a drive
Broaden your scope with Longitudinal Switching:
Your guard passes to your right forward for a shot opportunity, moves away and to his left and back to broaden the area. He is now braced for the rebound or the counter
Meanwhile, your pivots are working to achieve inside positioning
The opposite forward is running to the key to complete the offensive rebound triangle
If defense gets the rebound:
Your pivot is close to the rebounder & has maximum positioning to stop the outlet
The forward in the paint will attack the play maker left alone by our own play maker
The second pivot runs back on defense immediately
Your shooter rebounds only balls in his range, or he turns over for a defensive run back down the court the moment he touches down
You have maximized your opportunities for the offensive rebound & secured an optimum counter, shutting down the fast break. This approach to floor coverage & innovative rebounding & positioning makes it very difficult to outrun your team on the transition.
Modular Basketball is an innovative, motivating & thinking team based system. It emphasizes technique & the offensive attack while positioning the floor so as to eradicate the opposing fast break. In two short months, your team is skilled, forward thinking & positioned to control the game of the future.I invite you to take a closer look at this exciting approach.
Sincerely,
Cavit Altunay~Owner & Creator of Modular Basketball World’s Best Basketball Camp

What country are you from?
Post your comments and let us know where you live.
Make sure if you are a Coach you come to our camp too. This camp is not just for players. Come here to learn all about “Modular Basketball” and how you can win your conference next year.
Teach your team this system and prepare them for the season in a fraction of the time that it would usually take. Coach Cavit Altunay has all the answers. We will be releasing this system to the world next year officially.
Modular Basketball is time and energy saving system. We don’t hang around, we run directly for the result. We use one point guard # 1 and two forwards # 3 and two posts # 5.
Our perimeter players work the same drill. Our single Modular Basketball (MB) Drill. Plus set shots. Our forwards go to the corners to create room for our # 1, then to the posts. Spacing is geometrically the best. The distance between players prevents double-teaming. (7-8 meters or 21-24 feet).
MB Drill is the engine of our winning machine. I am sure that, many teams will use this drill. Because it is a warm-up drill + set offense drill + press attack drill. Without changing drills, just by changing the tempo, you get the best results for different techniques.
Assistants, forming groups can practice on one-on-one at a basket, footwork, stop, change of direction and speed, pass to the post under the other basket. In the middle, footwork, stop, big foot.
Posts play higher than normal. They always turn their body to the ball. (# 1 feeds them, mostly) We teach them to lean against the defense with the shoulder and to show the other hand for the pass. Turn away Jump Shots, Step in, using “Big Step footwork techniques” for a dunk are our preferred offensive moves for our posts.
We use forwards with a new format. They are attacking while receiving the ball. They pass and change spots or shoot and run back, to stop the offensive transition.
They run to the Key area to pick up loose balls. And runs to guard the play Maker/point guard. (Our # 1 runs back to cover the any opponents players who leave early and might be “cherry picking”.
This is called the “longitudinal switch between # 1 and # 3″ to stop offensive transition 100% of the time. You will soon see how this technique works when you visit our camp to learn Modular Basketball.
The # 5 tries to stop the outlet pass with pressure and the # 4, runs back all the way to his own hoop to protect his basket.
As you see, in only a moment, 3 of our players are already in our defensive side of the court, and # 4 is running to our colored area (Key).
The most important technique to teach is the when we start to run. İf you are late, you can’t fulfill your obligations.
